Research Information

This website is managed and maintained by the Research Information team, which is a part of the Research Strategy Office of the University of Cambridge.  It is designed to make it easier to find information about the University's world leading research activities and provide links to the main sources of information about current projects, news and future opportunities as well as information about previous research and its impact.

What we do

The Research Information Team is a part of the Research Strategy Office of the University of Cambridge. We operate across all disciplines and faculties, and work with researchers, departmental and research group administrators, network coordinators and research facilitators.

Key areas of activity include:

  • Responsibility for the Staff and Outputs components of the University’s Research Excellence Framework (REF) submission.
  • Working in collaboration with the University Library to support the Open Access and Research Data services with systems and data, and with reporting to support faculties and departments to increase compliance.
  • Working across Cambridge Research Office (CRO) to solve data problems and provide insight and analysis to support evidence-based decision making. This includes leading on the data and reporting strand of the Transforming Research Support programme.

We support a diverse suite of complementary tools, including Elements, Altmetric and Dimensions, which collate, enrich and connect information about research outputs and research activity across the University.

The team provides training and support for administrators and researchers, and often in conjunction with UIS (University Information Services), creates opportunities to improve, reuse and report on the data available; wherever possible, working in alignment with other key systems and processes.

More information about some aspects of these activities can be found on this site. For any other queries or requests for information please contact us.
